Weimaraner - Medium - Young - Female - Dog - Misty
Description
UPDATED!! 10/1 Misty is still shy around new people and the men in her current foster home but overall she is getting better. We also just got back from a trip to the beach and she LOVES the water. She has also made great progress with herhouse training and hasn't had an recent accidents in the house. She loves to cuddle up in the dogs beds or catch a snooze on the sofa beside her people. She is desperate to find a family of her own will it be you? UPDATED: 4/23/09 Misty continues to make progress, just small steps. She is now going to doggie day care and getting along well there. She doesn't seem to have any issues with other dogs outside of the house. We are still recommending she be an only dog or in a house with only males dogs. Still NO CATS. She has also made progress with crate training and house training. She only has an accident when she is approached by unfamiliar people in the house and even that is rare these days. UPDATED: 4/23/09 Misty has made 2 new friends in her current foster home. Both are male dogs one small at 12lbs and 1 large at 85 lbs so we think she might do ok in a house with another male dog, definitely NO CATS. Misty will never be the dog to go to the dog park but she loves to go for long walks and she would make a great running partner! UPDATED: 2/18/09 Misty is looking for a new temporary foster home. We'd like her to have a little vacation from her current environment and help her get acclimated to change. However her temporary foster home should be an only animal home. No other dogs or cats please. THANKS!! Date Posted: 12/16/08 Misty has been in foster care for about 2 months in VA and is doing well. She is crate trained and house trained when kept on a schedule. She is about a year and a half old and weights about 45lbs. She will need a special family with lots of patience and preferably an all female household, she is scared of men. She has spend the last 2 months in a house with both a male and a female human and still has not warmed up to her foster dad so we think she would be happiest with just women. We think she will also do better as an only dog or in a home with a male companion, she doesn't do very well with other female dogs all the time. Misty has had a rough life so far but we hope she will find just the right family to give her the safe, loving home she truly deserves. Mist was found in August in a rural area in western GA, abandoned on a county road. The wonderful volunteers with our parent rescue group in GA took her into the rescue in hopes she would find a good home. That was just the beginning of Misty's sad story. Because the rescue in GA is so full Misty spend her days there in an outside run, with very little one on one attention. After her spay surgery she pulled out her stitches and laid in pain through the night. In the morning when her foster mom found her she was in very bad shape and was rushed in for emergency surgery. Thankfully she recovered, this little girl is a fighter! We thought things were looking up for her but a few weeks later she was bit by a snake and almost died. Her face an body were so swollen we couldn't recognize her, but again she proved that she was a fighter and wanted to be here! Now she is healthy, and starting to adjust to a life in a house she just needs a family to call her own. Will that be you? At this point we have stopped he behavior training because she has become quite attached to her foster mom and has been told by both the vet and a trainer that Misty would be better served to find a family and continue her training once she is adopted instead of continuing to attach herself to her foster mom. Misty will need continued training to help her overcome her fears and to make sure her adoption is successful her foster mom will play an important role in helping Misty adjust once she is adopted.
