Layla is a 10 year old female Pit Bull Terrier. She has so much love to give. Every time she meets someone new her backend just wiggles and wiggles. She is very gentle and can take food from your hand. She is learning sit and stay, and also to shake hands. Layla had been stuck in an outdoor rural shelter where she wasn't getting much love or attention. It was getting so cold and she has a skin condition, so we brought her to a vet in the Northern VA area, where her skin condition has healed nicely.Layla is now in a foster home and doing wonderfully. She gets along great with her two foster brothers, even though they're younger and more rambunctious than her (she does sometimes correct them when they try to play too hard with her). She's already found her favorite spot in the house - a sunny corner of the sofa. She sleeps so deeply that even if you get up and make noise, she doesn't wake up or move. In fact, she snores in the cutest way when she falls into a deep sleep, as though she hasn't slept well in years. She is a very easy going girl and just wants to be loved and petted. She is not clingy or nervous in anyway, although she's not yet comfortable either with car rides or stairs.Layla has been doing great on her housetraining - she hasn't had any accidents with the bathroom schedule her foster family has set up for her. She goes nicely into her crate and curls up to sleep. She does wake up in the middle of the currently to go to the bathroom, but then comes right back in and settles down - she'd do best in a home where she can go outside every 4 hours or so. She knows how to "sit" and fetch and is, in general, very submissive to people. While it's clear from looking at her that she hasn't always been treated nicely - she has scars on much of her body - you couldn't tell it from the way she acts. She does have some arthritis, so she needs a home with a soft bed and few stairs.Layla is a complete sweetheart and would love to be the next member of your family.
