Speaking My Mind: Selected Speeches by Ronald Reagan (copyright 1989). This edition (copyright 1990) is part of The Library of the Presidents series from Easton Press. This book, which is currently not available from the publisher, is in near mint condition.
Easton Press volumes are among the most beautiful and durable books available today. Each volume is bound in genuine leather with a hubbed spine and accented with 22-karat gold, and printed on acid-neutral paper. The Smyth-sewn pages have gilded edges and are complemented by a sewn-in satin ribbon page marker and distinctive endleaves
From Ronald Reagan’s foreword: “I’ve selected a group of speeches that will give anyone who’s interested some insights into who I am, where I came from, what I believe, and what I tried to do as a result…The speeches selected from my White House years are verbatim transcripts with no deletions for misstatements I may have made or for hopes I voiced that never came true. I didn’t want to edit the texts because I didn’t want to edit history. I’ll just take my chances.”
The speeches span the time from remarks at the Kiwanis International Convention on June 21, 1951 through Reagan’s Farewell Address to the Nation from the Oval Office on January 11, 1989.
A wonderful extra bonus are nine pages on “The Wit and Wisdom of Ronald Reagan” selected by the editors.
